
Our resident Yoga instructor Maria will be offering Yoga morning or evening classes outside the special Surf & Yoga retreats, which costs € 8 extra per session wit a minimum of 2 participants. Private teaching is possible, but costs € 12 per session. Yoga lessons are available to all who are interested during their stay at the camp. Our teacher Maria, originally from Cape Verde, has been a devoted Yogi for more than 10 years and is teaching it for several years now. Starting as a trainer for aerobics and qualifying in the fields of sport, she came to Yoga and is regularly participating in trainings for it.
Maria is mainly teaching Hatha-Yoga which focuses on flexibility, breathing exercise and strengthening your body and soul. The aim of such body and mind training is enhancing self-centredness, serenity and patience.
Classes are just over an hour, incorporating strengthening and releasing poses that will work specific areas required for surfing. We will also work on breath awareness and relaxation techniques.
Surfing and yoga have more in common appears at first glance: Both demand endurance, strength, flexibility, body tension and harmony between body and mind. This is the reason Yoga is practiced by more and more pro surfers like Kelly Slater and Rochelle Ballard and also more and more yoga practitioners would like to learn mental and physical balance in harmony with nature and the ocean.
